Sales Tip

A "must have" for your marketing plan, is a working knowledge of your trade area demographics.

Last week a client told me his trade area would not support a concerted move to market upscale portraits. I "Googled" his city and county demographics and found he had a very good potential in this market.

For many photographers, the work day has grown longer
and more demanding due to adding new age tasks to their workflow, just because they can. All at
the expense of better marketing and improved sales presentation.

 Nothing happens until the sale
is made; no images to color manage, retouch and other manipulations (you did not do before digital).

Remember back when, you locked the door at 5:30, went fishing, golfing, spent time with the family. Take the next hour to check your city, county, trade area demographics and
market to the money.

Let us help you put the horse back in front of the cart, sell more, work less.

Call Jim Swoap for help or send him an email.

B&W Fiberbase Alternative

With the growing use of digital cameras, we are often asked the best way to produce photographs that look like traditional, B&W prints from negatives.

There are two ways of achieving this.  First, we can use our film recorder to make  a negative on B&W film and then have printed traditionally.

However, we can also print directly from your digital file on our Giclée printer to a paper that resembles fiberbase paper.  This method gives you the advantage of doing all the artwork that you need in Photoshop.  Customers who have tried direct prints report that they and their clients are very pleased with the result.

The process gives strong black tones and a very good tonal range overall and allows us to make prints up to 44" wide.   If you would like to see how your digital images will look using this process, send us a file and we will send you a 5x7 print at no charge.  Contact Customer Service.

Save Time and Money with Our Albums

Using WorkStream templates, you can create a wedding album or coffee table book, upload the images and we will send you a completed album, embossed, if you choose.  We have two styles, two colors and in 10x10, 8x8 and 5x5 sizes.  This service saves you time, money and eliminates the need for remakes due to accidents in mounting prints. The albums are bound with a durable leather-grained material, inserted in a sleeve and with attractive outside packaging.  Because you use WorkStream, we can color manage all images independently.  If you shoot on film, your negatives can be scanned to produce a digital album.  Your profit margin will increase when you use this new service.  Get in on this popular service!   Complete details are on our website.

Online University:  One on One

We are pleased to announce  an enhancement to our Online University.  Now you can schedule a time for our instructor to provide individual online WorkStream training and coaching.  If you are new to WorkStream and want help tailored just for you, we can do that.  If you are experienced and need help with some of the more advanced features, we can provide that online as well.  There is no charge for this service.  To schedule a time, call Bob Leader at the lab, or send him an email. Complete details about  Mid-South's  Online University are on our website.  If you would like to suggest topics or express a preference of day and time, please do so.

New WorkStream Templates

Several new templates are available for WorkStream.  They include many more 10x10 album templates, additional 5x30 templates and new 10x20 templates.  These all have multiple openings and allow us to color manage all images individually; not just make global corrections to the entire page.  Download templates here and see how much more versatility you have.

Increase Your Sales With Photo Cards

Photo greeting cards aren't  just for the holidays any more.  They are appropriate all year long.  There are selections for wedding announcements and graduations, to name a few.  Keep the Greeting Card sales booklet (see side bar to order) on your sales counter.  These cards also keep customers coming back to the studio throughout the year.     A special lower price applies when cards are created in WorkStream.  Click for more details and to view designs.  Or download templates for WorkStream to get started now.  (You may need to right-click on the link and choose "Save Target As".   Broadband connection suggested).

Imaging Trends

The Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) recently held their 2006 convention and released these statistics:  67% of the registrants post images online and 85% shoot digital for 75% or more of their image capture.  This trend emphasizes the need for a web presence for your studio and for an online service like DigiProofs.

July 4th Holiday

We will be closed on Tuesday, July 4th so that our employees can spend that day with their families.  We wish for you a safe and happy day off.
