Sales Tip From Dirk

The Concept of Subtractive Pricing

One pricing strategy often overlooked is the concept of subtractive pricing. Most of us are conditioned to think about add-on sales, and that should always be an important part of a solid pricing strategy. Add-ons could include frames, wallets, albums, additional prints etc.  Subtractive pricing does just the opposite by adding the additional product into the price on the front end, and requiring your client to take action to remove this product from the sale.

Daniel Seminar Was Huge Success!

A huge thank you goes out to Greg & Lesa Daniel for presenting  a truly inspiring seminar. Over 25 attendees from 7 states enjoyed this high-powered presentation. Both Greg and Lesa are phenomenal teachers, with the knowledge and presentation skills that makes learning FUN! Among the highlights:

-An awesome photo session. Greg demonstrated his artful shooting style, showed us his studio and available lighting control, and his finely honed posing techniques. Lesa amused us all with her intriguing “animal story” that both delighted and kept our young subject engaged.

-Greg opened our eyes to “Experience-Based” marketing. This is a dramatic departure from Goods-Based marketing and Service-Based marketing that has become the standard business practice for many of us. Each phase of the total photography experience is carefully examined and choreographed, from the initial client visit to the delivery of the final portrait. If you have ever been to Disney World, you’ll know what “Experience-Based” marketing is all about.

-Lesa demonstrated her skill in building large sales, from the initial consultation to the sales techniques to developing clients into loyal consumers who can’t wait to tell their friends. Lesa has carefully and effectively thought out each step of the client experience.

Easy, high-quality proofing solution.

Many of our clients are using ProVues with great results. ProVues is a perfect way to display your images in a large, high-quality size.  Perfect for destination photography, where your clients might not be local.  Also very useful to display your proofs from weddings and other events where there are out-of-town guests who would like the opportunity to view (and buy!) your images.

ProVues also works well for seniors, children, and family portraits, where you can save the time and expense of using paper proofs.  ProVues, an exclusive of Mid-South,  provides a more versatile customer presentation and allows you to show your images larger and in higher resolution.  You may add music, video, text and links.   It does not offer online ordering, thus encouraging your clients to call you with their selections and giving you the opportunity to assist them in purchasing.  Learn more.

WorkStream Tip

If you have an image that requires cropping across all sizes, you can save time by adding all the products (sizes) to the image, then cropping the first product. While you’re still in the cropping mode, right click the image and select “Match All Crops to This One” and your cropping proportions will be automatically applied to all the other products associated with that image.
